In yesterday’s post, we said to (after applying the way the job ad states) send a snail-mail copy of your resume to the hiring manager. But how does one find out who the hiring manager is? Kerry Sandberg Scott’s answer: “build a network so that you’re never in a situation where you don’t know anyone at the company.” Use Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Connect with old contacts, yes. But more importantly, use Twitter to expand your network. It’s simple to just click a button and “follow” a new contact. Then call upon that broad range of contacts for help when you’re applying to their company.
