6 Characteristics to Get a Raise

Yahoo Hot Jobs did a post on 6 personality traits that will make a good impression on your boss, lead to good performance reviews, and ultimately increase your salary. Some are instinctive, but others could be practiced and perfected.

They apply to job seeking too!  So keep these in mind when you are trying to impress a potential employer (and then remember them after you get the job and want to remind your managers how great you are).

  1. Think like the owner – If it was your business, what would you do?
  2. Look to the Future – Last year already happened. Now move on.
  3. Be social – Don’t just hide away. Interact, help out, make yourself visible.
  4. Use your charm – People who can be persuasive will go far.
  5. Ask for criticism – Show your boss your progress and ask for feedback.
  6. Support your boss – What would make them more efficient? Think ahead to help them.
